IBS Member | Representative for 38th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP)

Our very own Francis Alain Ebardo was selected to be a representative for the 38th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP). SSEAYP is a diplomatic and cultural exchange program among and between emerging youth leaders in Asia sponsored by the Government of Japan. More than 300 young delegates from Japan and the ten ASEAN member states are expected to participate in this program to promote and strengthen friendship and cultural understanding.

The delegates will be on board the cruise liner MS Fuji Maru from October 26 to December 16, 2011, visiting the following countries:

  • Japan,
  • Philippines (Manila),
  • Brunei Darussalam (Muara),
  • Indonesia (Jakarta),
  • Malaysia (Port Klang) and
  • Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh)

This year’s SSEAYP itinerary is exceptional since the Philippines will be one of the ports of call and venue of the first Country Programme, presenting the Philippine contingent, “PintigPinoy,” with the unique opportunity of exemplifying the best of our Filipino values and showcasing our rich culture and heritage as well as by showing to the world especially our ASEAN neighbors the various Filipino individuals as well as corporations and institutions that have achieved global success.

Francis is a Gawad Kalinga Volunteer, a leader of CFC- Youth for Christ and a proud member of Iligan Bloggers Society. He writes at http://simplyfrancis.blogspot.com. He aspired to take Masters in Business Management and  enrolled the MBM Summer Bridging Courses at MSU-IIT last April 2011.  But because he was chosen to represent Region 10 Northern Mindanao for SSYEAP, that dream was temporarily put on hold.

God bless Francis! You make the Iliganons proud!

You can support Francis by donating for his expenses. Email us for his contact details.

38th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP)

Our representatives (Region 10) for the 38th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP)

Youth Ambassadors to join J-ASEAN Program

Twenty-nine young leaders coming from the different regions of the country will represent the nation as Philippine youth ambassadors to the 38th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP).

SSEAYP is a diplomatic and cultural exchange program among emerging youth leaders in Asia sponsored by the Government of Japan. More than 300 young delegates from Japan and the ten ASEAN member states are expected to participate in this program to promote and strengthen friendship and cultural understanding. The delegates will be on board the cruise liner MS Fuji Maru from October 26 to December 16, 2011, visiting six ports of call, namely: Japan, Philippines (Manila), Brunei Darussalam (Muara), Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia (Port Klang) and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh).

During ports of call, the delegates will interact with the local youths and will be on a homestay program. They will also respond to courtesy calls of dignitaries and will do institutional visits in order to learn more about other Southeast Asian cultures and traditions.

The Philippines will serve as the venue of the first Country Program since it is also the first port of call of the Ship. Here, the Philippine Contingent (dubbed as PintigPinoy) along with its partners from both the government and public sectors will get the chance to showcase the Philippine culture and heritage as well as the development of the country’s industries.

The Philippine Participating Youths will also undergo a month-long training on diplomatic affairs, leadership, culture and the arts in preparation for the cultural exchange and discussions they will have while aboard the Ship.

Official delegates of the Philippines, along with their National Leader, were selected by the Office of the President, through the National Youth Commission.
