JCI Iligan, Inc. will be hosting the first “The Majestic Race Iligan: A Race for a Cause” on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 7:00AM-12:00NN.

The event is a city-wide race that aims to showcase the tourist spots in Iligan City and at the same time support the “Bags to School” project, a nationwide project that provides school learning needs to pre-school teachers and pupils of public daycare centers.

United States Government Alumni from Mindanao, in collaboration with Barangay Santiago Officials, Barangay Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (BFARMC), American Field Service IPP- Iligan Chapter, Philippine Youth Leadership Program, MSU-IIT Department of Psychology, CASS Executive Council, will hold a nationwide simultaneous “Coastal Clean-up Day: I Love the Ocean” on Monday, June 9, 2014.

The activity is in line with Department of State Secretary Kerry’s “Our Ocean’s Conference” happening end of this month. As a nationwide event, the Embassy’s social media team is stationed to monitor using the official hashtag: #OurOcean2014 as it also aims to raise awareness through social media.

It aims to increase awareness on the value of the seas and to gather volunteers, students, and organizations to actively respond and participate in its protection.

Additional activity such as Boat Rowing Contest will also follow with the participation of the local settlers.
