WHAT IS ONE FOR ILIGAN?
ONE FOR ILIGAN campaign for the victims of typhoon Sendong in Iligan City was first conceptualized by the Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. and went viral online. This movement is realized by generating enough funds online and use it to provide immediate needs for the victims. The One for Iligan movement is for all Iliganons, Filipinos, and people with big hearts to give as little as a dollar for the victims for Typhoon Sendong .

Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. or IBS is a credible name as we are a SEC registered NGO in iligan City. IBS, Inc. is a SEC registered Non-Government and Non-Profit Organization recognized in Iligan City both in the private and public sectors. The organization has worked on projects: facilitated Iligan City Google Mapping Party, host of 5th Mindanao Bloggers Summit, social media partner for Project 111111, and Christmas Caroling sa The Strip partner with Calda Pizza Iligan to name a few. With nominated bloggers on their respective blog categories for the Philippine Blog Awards, and social media specialists on board.

Any money/cash transactions to other accounts goes through other volunteering groups/organizations not accounted for by Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc.

HOW WILL YOUR DONATIONS BE USED?
Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. will not be turning over cash to any Local Government Units as per request by donors based in Iligan, Philippines and in parts of the world. With respect to that request IBS, Inc. will purchase IDENTIFIED IMMEDIATE NEEDS as well as render health services to the victims and distribute it to evacuation centers in Iligan City with the volunteers for the One For Iligan Campaign. This will ensure that there will be direct hand-over of donations from Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc to the victims themselves.
BREAKDOWN OF FUNDS:
Prepared Cooked Food for identified evacuation center for the day.
Health Service Items: BP, Temperature taking, medication release, and immediate health problems taken care of, with health and sanitary teachings
Non-perishable items: Mats, Blankets, Slippers, Soap, Repacked Goods
Immediate Needs: Undergarments, Sanitary Pads, Diapers and Evacuation and Site Clean-up Items
WHO WILL BE THE BENEFICIARIES?
The victims of Typhoon Sendong from the 14 identified evacuation centers as well as identified directly hit areas with people camping out in their properties that needs the help and support. Senior citizens, children, pregnant women, and injured individuals will be prioritized. Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. asks that the donors to understand that we identify areas and people who needs it the most and to circulate to make sure that the organization will have a wider scope of help given.

Hi Renz. You can keep it in a safety box if you are taking donations on site. And then you can send that in bulk to your recipient in the PH via money transfer. Good luck on the fund raising!
On my recent visit to Iligan, just weeks before Sendong, I had the pleasure of meeting with the Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. on several occasions. I am very impressed with this group.
As I have been monitoring Tropical Storm Sendong and the resulting Calamity, since the first raindrops began to fall the IBS originated ” One For Iligan ” relief effort has proven to be one of the most effective. First with a quick, convienient way for making Worldwide Donation via Paypal, First to come up with a theme ( One For Iligan ) and the First to display a logo that became so popular, other non-related groups have adopted it, making it a Universal Logo.
When I have made donations to past Iligan Calamities, it was a rather long process for my donation to get there. With their Paypal donation account, this time my First and only choice was Iligan Bloggers Society.
When I learned that members of this group were financing their operation out of their own personal money, I sent a separate donation, via a different international money transfer method, to help with their operating expenses to additionally assure that NONE of the relief donations shall be used for ” administration or operating costs ” incurred by IBS. 100 Per Cent of your relief effort Donation will go to the relief of Sendong Victims.
There are thousands and maybe millions of Blogs on the internet. I have often wondered who really reads them. With the overwhelming and continued response to the Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. ” One For Iligan ” donation Drive, it looks like Internet Blogs really do have a worldwide following.

Nice post. Thanks for sharing. I hope that preventative measures can be put in place soon. One thing that can be done which costs nothing is each individual take responsibility for their garbage and put it where it belongs instead of throwing it all over the streets, rivers, and everywhere else.
