HOW TO GET TO ILIGAN CITY
Part of the Northern Mindanao region, though under the province of Lanao del Norte, Iligan City is a lone city under Region X. It is accessible through 3 cities: Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, and Ozamis City.
Via Cagayan de Oro
There are daily Cagayan de Oro flights from Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo to Laguindingan Internation Airport at the Municipality of Laguindingan. It is 30 mins away from Cagayan de Oro, and 1H 30 mins. away to the other direction to Iligan City. If you’re traveling to Iligan City via plane, you can directly travel to Iligan via bus transfers at the airport.
There are daily 2 hour bus trips with a travel interval of 15 mins that ply the Cagayan de Oro -Iligan City route. The current rate is at ~140PhP/pax from Bulua Terminal to Northbound (Tambo )Bus Terminal.
Via Cebu City
There are daily flights from Cebu City to Cagayan de Oro via Laguindingan International Airport. One can also board an overnight ferry directly to Iligan City, or via Cagayan de Oro.
Via Ozamis City
There are daily flights from Manila, and Cebu City to Ozamis City. Ozamis City is roughly 2H bus travel to Iligan City. You can catch a 30 min. ferry ride to Mukas, and ride a bus from there to Iligan City, or get on the bus at Ozamis City to secure a seat.
HOW TO GET AROUND ILIGAN CITY
Jeepneys are the main transport in Iligan City with the minimum fare of 7PhP. There are taxis without meters that charges at the minimum rate of 70PhP. Registered tricycles, and tartanilyas (horse-drawn carriage) have fixed area, and route, and are not allowed in main roads. Habal-habal’s are mainly used for going out of the way places. Fares usually start at around Php25.00 upwards depending on the distance of the destination. These are not registered means of transport, but comes in handy when going to the outskirts of town.
WHERE TO STAY IN ILIGAN CITY
There are not so many accommodation choices to choose from in Iligan City. And currently no fancy, and decent hotel to stay in for business trips. Most are simple inns, decent lodging houses that starts at the rate of 300PhP/12H.
