Waterfalling Adventure 1.0: A Success!

ligan Bloggers has committed to help promote tourism in Iligan City and the best way to showcase the City of Majestic Waterfalls is to visit its numerous waterfalls. Iligan City has 23 known waterfalls but did you know that there are 39 reported waterfalls by the barangay officials? Yes, Iligan City is that rich with natural resources.

Photo by Pat D Noel

Last September 25, 2012 12 bloggers from different parts of the country discovered and experience the majestic waterfalls of Iligan City. The bloggers visited 7 out of the committed 6 waterfalls of the city. They also have explored and experienced the best dishes and local delicacies showcased by Jacko’s Kan-anan, Tita Fannies Liempo and Chicken House, El Canto Grill and Macki’s Fried House, Red Planet Grill & Calda Pizza.

Suka Pinakurat team was very accommodating. They offered the bloggers to taste all the sauces available in Green Gourmet. All original Iliganon products we all are proud off. The bloggers were able to take home bottles of suka pinakurat too.

In behalf of the participating bloggers and the members of the Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. We would like to thank the following sponsors who one way or another made the event successful;

Unilab Philippines, for powering up the bloggers with vitamins, medicines and hygiene kits to prep them up for the trek. It sure helped us keep our energy levels high.

Jacko’s Kan-anan, the official headquarters and caterer of IBS Inc. for the sumptuous welcome dinner and lunch the next day. Your crispy squid, grilled tuna belly and crispy tuna buntot was a favorite. The barbecue and kinilaw the next day was a bang.

Tita Fannies Liempo and Chicken House, for the warmest welcome and very generous dinner, your Lechon Manok and Liempo Lechon was a sure hit. And your all original buko halo-halu ended the night with a bang.

Macki’s Fried House fueled our tummies with the best fried chicken in Iligan City and prepared our packed lunch the third day. The bloggers can’t get over with El Canto Grill’s Chicken Barbecue and Sizzling Gambas we had for dinner. We keep asking for more.

Red Planet’s Grill and Calda Pizza filled our culmination night with abundance. Sumptuous dinner plus a band singing in the back ground was the way to perfectly end the night.

We would also like to thank Apple Bee Water Refilling Station for an overflowing supply of drinking water during the event, Keepsakes Iligan Souvenir and Crafts for the memorabilia give aways for our guests, Mimar’s spring pool for the discounts, Crystal Inn for the packed lunch, Greenwhich Iligan for the breakfast meals of the participating bloggers, Chamber of Commerce of Iligan City Foundation, Iligan City Carpool to Kuya Jojo and Kuya Ronald for safely driving us to our destinations, to TravelJams, PinayTravelista, and PurpleSlipperz, and also PinayTravels for sponsoring our health drink, fresh Soya Milk.

Well I’m hoping that I did not forget to thank someone.

Above all I would like to thank God for protecting us and making sure that we all will arrive safely and have fun during the event.

See you all for Waterfalling Adventure 2.0

By request IBS Inc. can offer Waterfalling Adventure 1.1 for bloggers/non-bloggers for a fixed donation. If interested please send your letter of intent at

CLUP and CDP Public Consultation

Category : Events , President's Corner

The Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. attended the Public Consultation on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) conducted by the City Planning and Development Office on November 22, 2011, 5 o’clock in the afternoon, at Elena Tower Inn.   This was the 13th consultation conducted and the attendees were from the business and private sector.
Councilor Ruderic Marzo welcomed the participants to the consultation.  Mayor Lawrence Lluch Cruz gave his message to the participants.   And Archt. Gil R. Balondo, City Planning and Development Coordinator, presented the major points of the CLUP and CDP.  Then the consultation proper followed with an open forum and the participants were encouraged to give suggestions for the improvement of the plan before it will be finalized.

The 6-year (CDP) and 10-year plans (CLUP) plans were presented to inform the Public about the ambitious and soon to be realized development plans for Iligan City. Yes, it is quite ambitious but we will definitely realize it with the help of the people of Iligan. Yes, the Iliganons.

Here are few interesting projects sited;

1. As an advocate for Sustainable Lifestyle and Climate Change Programs, addressing the Urban Warming problem is an A+ . To site a few, that includes;

  • Landscaping and Land Marks
  • Clearing of water ways and keeping the creeks open
  • Road Side Trees
  • Developing Parks and Eco Parking areas
Did You Know? Bayug Island is the first settlement of Iligan City? and would it be nice to make a replica of the old Bayug Island in the area where locals, students and visitors  can visit as tourism landmark?

2. Zoning the New Urban Centers. Poblacion is already congested with a lot of commercial establishments. The City aims to have a “Walkable City”.Arch. Gil Balondo said it’s no longer bringing the residents to the city, it’s bringing the city to the residents. Adding the North Urban Center and South Urban Centers makes it possible. Where the “centro” or so called “syudad” is not only Poblacion. This will definitely open new opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to invest and do good business in the new Zones.

3. Circumferential Roads are being constructed not to waste money but to address problems with traffic congestion and carbon monoxide emissions along Tubod-Poblacion area.

4. Drainage Improvement Project to address flooding in some areas of the Barangays San Miguel, Sto. Rosario and other adjacent barangays.

5. Mindanao-wide Causeway and Railway plans were also presented, showing Iligan City as one of the stop-over stations.

To quote City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz during his welcome address;

We need COOKS right now so that we can make PALATABLE dish for the City

Thus, If you have that idea, voice it out now for the good of our city. Be part of the solution. Don’t act like an all-knowing-God somewhere else. Help the government make it a reality. Help the government in making this good plans realized by being a solution. Rather than just ranting it out somewhere else.
