How One For Iligan Works for Its Victims and Donors

Category : Announcements

WHAT IS ONE FOR ILIGAN? ONE FOR ILIGAN campaign for the victims of typhoon Sendong in Iligan City was  conceptualized by the Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. in a campaign to call $1 Dollar for the victims of Typhoon Sendong. The campaign  and the photo made by MSU IIT Diskarte  in support for the movement went viral and became the face of the campaign. This movement is realized by generating enough funds online and use it to provide immediate needs for the victims. The One for Iligan movement is for all Iliganons, Filipinos, and people with big hearts to give as little as a dollar for the victims for Typhoon Sendong . Unfortunately, since the campaign name is a calls for an effort one people to extend help to the victims, Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. can not help it if distributing and volunteer groups use the same campaign name. We did, however, made a disclaimer that this specific distributing arm is only accepting donations stated in this post. Any donations made to other accounts is not accounted for by the organization and it’s operations.

WHY THE DISTINCTION? Basically, Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. is  an organization, solely in respect for the donors who trusted the organization with their donations. And to protect the credibility of the organization as well as any groups or organizatiosn using the same name, we have to make a distinction, so as not to zero out each others credibility. That way, people would still not think the group is not a “scam” because there’s another one of the same campaign name. One For Iligan, after all started as a generic name for a campaign and not just tagline. Again, any donations made to other accounts is not accounted for by the organization and it’s operations.

Iligan Bloggers Society Launching and Induction of Officers

Category : Announcements

The Launching and Induction of Iligan Bloggers Society Officers was held at SMC Mini Hotel, Iligan City last August 26, 2011 at 8 AM to 12 NN. The newly organized bloggers society of Iligan City was officially launched as well as it’s officers inducted on office. It was both stress and pressure for IBS to deliver a successful launching as this will represent a digital online media organization for Iligan City.

the master of ceremony Alexander Singcol and Lisa Marie Mirasol kick-started the Iligan Bloggers Society Launching and Induction of Officers. Starting with a meaningful prayer led by Arlene Collado and the the national anthem by Revilla Carbonell-Noel. It was Richard Celeste, the IBS Marketing Director who gave the welcome speech to the honored dignitaries, city officials, businessmen, and entrepreneurs of the vibrant Iligan City.

Iligan Bloggers Society is introduced to public and private offices with high hopes of partnership for projects that will promote Iligan City though the efforts of responsible and conscientious blogging.  As blogging and it’s over-all effect to Iligan City was new for some of the guest, it was an effort to shed light on the purpose of Iligan Bloggers Society’s existence, given by no-less, the foundress of Iligan Bloggers Society herself,  Lovette Jam Jacosalem.

The successful Iligan City Google Mapping Party held last July 30, 2011 was presented by the project manager, Lisa Marie Mirasol. As this was one of the major projects for IBS this year and was a pre-Launching activity for IBS to facilitate and hosts a Google Mapping Party to update the Iligan City Google Map.

It was a fitting timing to launch IBS and induct it’s officers as it will be the main proponent for the biggest convergence of Mindanao bloggers on October 29-30, 2011 for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 2011. The announcement and invitation to partnership for the public and private sectors of Iligan City was given by the head organizer for MBS5, Michael Lagcao.

In behalf of Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, Councilor Marlene Young gave the inspirational message to the IBS members.   It was heartwarming to hear her say that IBS members don’t need her  inspirational message, for it is IBS that inspire them with what we have done for Iligan City and will be doing in the future.

The induction of officers with the inducting officer, Cong. Varf Belmonte’s Chief of Staff, Madame Queenie B. Picardal, which was the highlight of the event. Only ten IBS members and officers were free from obligations and were able to take the oath. All of which carry the responsibility of being a member of the IBS and carrying its Mission and Vision.

Executive Director Charmaine Xy-za Yape, gave the acceptance speech for the IBS in the words of taking on the responsibility of upholding of what Iligan Bloggers Society stand for and the promotion of Iligan City through IBS activities.

Another highlight for the day was the awarding of the My Iligan Blogging Contest organized by Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc.PR campaign to project a positive image of Iligan as well as promote the products and tourism potentials of the city. Michael Lagcao announced the winners together with Ms. Emily Pascua, President of CCIFII, Mr. George Hamoy, member of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Sol Erwin Diaz, one of the major sponsors for the prizes.   The winners are :  Lisa Marie Mirasol (1st prize), Charmaine Xy-Za Yape (2nd prize) and Lovette Jam Jacosalem (3rd prize).

Ms. Emily Pascua, President of CCIFII gave a short message to Iligan Bloggers Society of inspiration and congratulatory words for the winners as well.

Cong. Varf Belmonte’s gave an inspirational message through Chief of Staff, Madame Queenie B. Picardal, saying, “May I extend then my hand in partnership  to the Iligan Bloggers Society as we walk the path of development.  Congratulations and may your tribe increase.” Cheers came from the IBS members when the message says, “I am one with you in this aspiration of bringing out the best of our city and it’s constituents specially the youth.  I am very proud that through your organization, the Lone District of Iligan City will be able to facilitate in uniting Mindanao and showing to the rest of the country that One Mindanao is indeed possible.”

Newly inducted officers of Iligan Bloggers Society looks forward to the organizations role in Iligan City, through the mission and vision of which IBS stands for. Kudos IBS!
